electrogirls: biography
Christi Denton and Celeste Hutchins were both born in Northern California in 1976. They met at Mills College in 1994 where Christi studied music composition and Celeste studied computer science. Christi became interested in composing for found objects, while at the same time Celeste began writing electronic music for tape. They often worked together in the studio and in junkyards, looking for percussive objects.
Since then, they have collaborated on several electro-acoustic projects including writing pieces for percussion ensemble, and an installation at the San Francisco Exploratorium. Both were featured at the Composer Spotlight in April 2003 at Jack Straw Productions in Seattle.
They are currently working on a soundtrack to the movie Aelita, Queen of Mars.
They currently live and work in Berkeley, California.
